About this class
Embark on an exciting journey through the history and evolution of video games! Students will explore the roots of gaming, from early arcade classics and home consoles to the immersive worlds and experiences of today. Along the way, they will discover how graphics, storytelling, gameplay, and technology have transformed across generations while examining iconic games, genres, and the growing influence of gaming in modern culture. Through videos, discussions, interactive activities, and creative expression, students will connect past innovations to present-day gaming while building confidence, sharing ideas, and exploring their own creativity.

Kevin Velez
Kevin Velez is a graduate of LIU Post with a degree in Digital Game Design and a lifelong passion for video games and interactive storytelling. From a young age, he was fascinated not only by playing games, but by the history, creativity, and innovation behind the industry that has shaped entertainment for generations. During his time at LIU Post, Kevin designed and developed countless original games, gaining hands-on experience in game mechanics, storytelling, design theory, and digital production. His work allowed him to turn his passion into a creative skillset, while deepening his appreciation for the evolution of gaming culture and technology. Kevin is excited to bring his enthusiasm, creativity, and knowledge to the classroom, where he hopes to inspire students to explore the world of gaming in new and exciting ways.
