About this class
In this course, students will explore the vibrant history, cultures, and geography of the Caribbean. From mapping the islands to discovering diverse traditions, languages, and ecosystems, students will gain a deeper understanding of what makes each destination unique. Through research, engaging discussions, and creative projects, students will connect past and present while building knowledge of the region’s rich heritage.
This course encourages curiosity, cultural appreciation, and a greater awareness of the world beyond their own community!

Courtney Braun is thrilled to be teaching another round of Affinity classes. Courtney is Licensed Master of Social Work, graduating from Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare. Courtney has a love for cooking and local cuisine, labeling herself as a "foodie." Courtney has performed in countless productions here on Long Island as well as directed and choreographed a handful of productions. She can be found visiting Disney World frequently as an annual passholder. Courtney also has a strong passion for photography, reading, and music!
